Airtraffic falls by 1 lakh passengers in July
The number of total domestic passengers carried by all scheduled airlines was lower by about a lakh in July compared with that in the same month last year.
However, a total of 35.97 lakh passengers as against negative growth in the first six months of year can be seen as a indicator of the re-emergence of stability in the sector despite the financial downslide.
Among the airlines, Air India (Domestic) carried 5.82 lakh, Jet Airways 6.81 lakh, JetLite 2.66 lakh, Kingfisher (including subsidiary Kingfisher Red) 8.29 lakh, SpiceJet 4.49 lakh, IndiGo 5.02 lakh, GoAir 2.04 lakh and Paramount 0.72 lakh, according to official figures released today.
Kingfisher and its low-cost carrier cornered 23 per cent market share in July, followed by Jet with 18.9 per cent, Air India (Domestic) 16.2 per cent, IndiGo 14 per cent, SpiceJet 12.5 per cent, JetLite 7.4 per cent, GoAir 5.7 per cent and Paramount two per cent.
