Amartya Sen, Mittal, Nooyi to be part of PM`s Panel

Bangalore: A panel headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, which will also include eminent personalities like business tycoon L N Mittal, Pepsico CEO Indra Nooyi and economist Amartya Sen, will be constituted to advise the government on how to improve relationship with the best Indian minds abroad. "The council will serve as a platform for the prime minister to draw upon the experience, knowledge and wisdom of the best Indian minds wherever they may be based," said Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vyalar Ravi, who is also a member of the council.

Ravi informed the Lok Sabha that this Global Advisory Council will develop an `inclusive agenda` which will help in an engagement between the country and the best Indian brains living abroad. He also added that council will also consider on how to access the skills and knowledge of Indians living abroad for meeting the country`s development goals and facilitating investments by overseas Indians into the country.

The 23 member panel will also include other big names like External Affairs Minister S M Krishna, City group CEO Vikram Pandit, NRI entrepreneur Karan Bilimoria, economist Jagdish Bhagwati and educationist Sam Pitroda.
