Bangalore December 2, 2008: India`s second largest IT exporter Infosys is finding ways to cut expenditure through its employees by urging them to cut cost themselves. The IT major`s over one lack employees all around the world are asked to cut cost by at least $10 individually in an internal mail circulated to all its employees , reported The Economic Times.

In the ground of the worst economic crisis IT industry has ever faced, the company is adopting various strategies to reduce the cost. "If each one of us is able to identify a savings of even $10-not just per day or per month-but $10 as a one-time effort from each one of us, that would translate to a saving of close to $1,000,000—which is a substantial amount," Infosys CEO Kris Gopalakrishnan urged the employees in the internal mail.

"I urge each one of you as a key stakeholder of the company`s success, to examine your work environment and look at opportunities that will optimize utilization and control expenditure. What may appear to be an insignificant saving at the ground level, may well add up to substantial savings when aggregated at the regional or global level," he further added.

The company believes that the recession may continue well in to 2009 with U.S. and Japan economies shrinking. To tackle the crisis, Infosys has charted out four main objectives: to increase the billability and utilization of all its employees around the globe; to increase revenues and margins; to identify cost optimization opportunities, which may include increased leveraging of its lower cost locations for delivery; to improve the control over spend and optimize return on investment.
