TCS, Wipro, Infosys Bag BP Outsourcing Deal
Earlier in the day, the oil and gas major said the deal was part of its vendor consolidation strategy. With this deal, BP has now reduced the number of vendors from 40 to just five.
The deal covers IT application, development, and management.
According to S. Gopalakrishnan, CEO of Infosys, the size of the deal is not specified yet. He said this consolidation will allow the company to bid for more projects. Our existing business with BP will continue. We are into exploration, production, SAP, and some BPO work for BP."
Suresh Vaswani, executive director and Joint CEO of Wipro, however, sees flat operating margin with a positive bias.
TCS Vice President Hasit Kaji said the company would be fundamentally focusing on the refining and manufacturing some of the corporate IT applications. At a later stage, TCS would be involved with the exploration and production and trading applications, he added.
