The STeP-IN Summit 2009, 6th Annual Conference on Software Testing that was held in City on Thursday, called for testing fraternity to specialise in new technologies and build a brand name for Indian testers.
Addressing a gathering of over 1100 testing professionals at the STeP-IN Summit 2009, 6th Annual Conference on Software Testing, Symphony Services India President Amitava Roy said, “Customers especially during the economic crisis look at new technologies, how to reduce cost of ownership and increase ability and deliver high quality. Expertise should be built in new technologies such as SOA, SAAS, Cloud computing, web 2.0, mobile embedded solutions.”
Of the $13 billion global testing market $4 -5 billion is outsourced to India in 2008, according to a Gartner report. Speaking at the sidelines of the Summit Quality Solutions for Information Technology Pvt Ltd (QSIT) Vice President Business Development KV Shashi Kiran said, “There is still untapped areas like technology related and process related. We lack expertise here. Apart from conventional testing verticals like BFSI, retail and health, testing services has huge opportunity in new areas like SAO Web 2.0, Cloud computing.”
“With slump, it is right time for the testing fraternity to look at domestic market,” Kiran added.
