Virtusa ties up with vijayawada college
Nasdaq-listed Virtusa Corporation has partnered with Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering (KLCE) in Vijayawada to align its curriculum with IT industry needs and initiate the launch pad training programme at the college campus.
As part of the agreement, the company plans to conduct special guest lectures with the goal of enhancing student skills and employability. KLCE students will interact with experts from Virtusa and its faculty will benefit from the company’s training, the company claimed.
Virtusa will also be open for campus visits to give students a first-hand experience of an IT firm. The relationship will also help align KLC’s curriculum with IT industry standards and technology trends, better equipping students with the right skills when they step into the professional IT world, according to a release on Wednesday. “The objective of the MoU with KLCE is to build industry-academia relationship and provide students a platform for gearing up to the challenges of the corporate world,” said Akhilesh Agarwal, vicepresident (delivery), Virtusa.
Virtusa has forged ties with other institutions in the south as well. It has already set up a centre of excellence for data warehousing in St Joseph’s College, Tamil Nadu. It signed an MoU with Siddhartha Engineering College in Vijayawada to provide certification and multi-skill programmes for students and help the college align its curriculum with information technology trends.
“We have partnerships with various other tier-II institutes and our focus will mainly be in AP and Tamil Nadu, where we have operations. Our tie-up with tier-II institutes will help us tide over the competition and also gives us access to a large resource-pool. In future, we will also look at setting up new centres of excellence in emerging technologies,” a Virtusa official had said earlier.
Many IT companies have formed similar partnerships with educational institutes to develop talentpool. Hyderabad-based Infotech Enterprises had also signed an agreement with the Institute of Aeronautical Engineering and MLR Institute of Technology in Dindigul to enhance the quality of technical education
